Jackie and Shadow, Big Bear Lake Eagles, Soaring over Big Bear Lake

Flybys & Night Visitors: Jackie, Shadow, and Friends Return to the Nest 🦅🌙

Big Bear’s favorite bald eagles, Jackie and Shadow, have been busy this week—delighting fans with morning chortles, graceful flybys, and surprise evening roosts. Early Thursday, their iconic calls echoed from the Roost Tree, followed by a scenic perch on the Lookout Snag. Not far off, a juvenile eagle—likely one of this year’s fledglings—was spotted flying by but kept a respectful distance after a few warning calls from Shadow.

Meanwhile, another familiar face has returned—Fiona the flying squirrel! With the nest now unoccupied at night, Fiona has resumed her nightly visits, gliding across branches and foraging for snacks.
