Gizmo Has Fledged! Big Bear’s Bold Eagle Girl Takes Her First Flight 🦅

At 8:27 AM this morning, Gizmo officially took to the skies—marking her very first flight from the nest! It may have started with a bit of a slip, but Gizmo’s powerful wings kicked into action, and she soared gracefully all the way to the Simba Tree.

The morning began with Gizmo exploring the back porch, racing through the nest to the front porch, and climbing up to the balcony. She stretched her wings, caught the breeze, and eyed the Y-branch attic—clearly thinking about what was next.

Then it happened. She jumped… missed her mark… and suddenly stepped off the edge. But instead of panic, Gizmo pulled off an incredible recovery, flapping strong and steady into a smooth landing on a lower branch of the Simba Tree. Her first flight was a success.

At 13 weeks old today, Gizmo is right on track. Like Sunny before her, she’ll take time to rest, reorient, and adjust to life beyond the nest. Juvenile eagles fly slower than adults—their feathers are still developing, and over the next few weeks, Gizmo’s flight will grow more powerful and agile.

We haven’t spotted Sunny just yet, but her soft calls were heard yesterday—so she’s nearby, thriving in her own journey.

Honor this huge milestone with our "First Flight Tee Shirt – Soar Like Gizmo". Perfect for eagle lovers who’ve followed her story from hatchling to sky queen.

Stay tuned as we continue tracking Sunny, Gizmo, and the incredible eagle family of Big Bear!
