Jackie & Shadow Are Nest-Ready: Pancakes, Pine Needles & Sweet Beaky Kisses in Big Bear
Share
As the clouds rolled in and sunshine peeked through, Jackie and Shadow got to work—and the nest is beginning to take serious shape in Big Bear Lake!
Pancake season is here, and Jackie made it clear she’s prepping for egg laying, flattening herself into the nest bowl multiple times yesterday. She even pushed aside some sticks to form a cozy depression for future eggs. Not to be outdone, Shadow joined in with his first pancake of the season—a clear sign that nesting hormones are on the rise.
Both eagles showed up with mega crops—proof of a hearty breakfast—and quickly got to work snapping pine twigs and adding colorful branches to the nest. They shared beaky kisses and gentle feather nibbles, keeping things affectionate as they went about their stick placement.
The first layer of nest bowl fluff (pine needles and soft grasses) is being laid, and the sound of a seasonal mountain stream nearby adds to the charm of this next chapter.
Egg-laying season typically begins in January, so now’s the perfect time to follow their journey and gear up with eagle-themed gifts.
