Peaceful Roosts & New Visitors: Jackie and Shadow Settle In for Late Summer 🦅🌲
Share
It’s been a calm and beautiful week in Big Bear, with Jackie and Shadow treating eagle cam viewers to multiple peaceful visits around their favorite perches. The pair has been regularly roosting together in the Roost Tree, sharing quiet evenings and sleepy mornings before flying off to explore the lake.
Their favorite morning routine? Shadow heads first to the Lookout Snag, followed by Jackie shortly after. This tree holds special meaning—it’s the same branch where the eagle family reunited after Sunny and Gizmo fledged, with Shadow delivering a fish to teach his daughters how to eat away from the nest.
Beyond our resident pair, wildlife activity has picked up. A juvenile bald eagle (likely a 2025 hatch) spent the night in the Roost Tree this weekend. And Fiona the flying squirrel has returned, with a rare appearance by Fast Freddie, both happily reclaiming their spot now that nesting season is over.
