Shadow Returns with Stick Nestorations
Share
The sound of Jackie and Shadow’s chortles filled the Big Bear air Monday afternoon, kicking off a flurry of nest activity that signals one thing: nesting season prep is on.
Shadow arrived first on the Lookout Snag, crop full from a recent meal. On his way to the nest, cameras caught the unmistakable sound of a stick snap—and sure enough, he landed on the porch with a large branch. After placing it, he returned with a second, smaller stick before heading off to the Roost Tree.
Soon after, Jackie arrived with purpose. She scoped out the area, checked the new stick placements, and then flew to the Roost Tree to join Shadow for the night.
Later, Fiona the flying squirrel made her usual appearance, chattering softly as she zipped through the nest and disappeared into the dark.
Stay tuned—the first stick is down, and nesting season has begun.
