Two Eaglets, Endless Joy: Jackie & Shadow’s Easter Hatch in Big Bear 🐣🐣🦅

The excitement in the Big Bear eagle nest just keeps building—what started with one hatch quickly turned into double the joy as Jackie and Shadow welcomed their second eaglet on Easter morning.

For eagle cam viewers and bird-loving friends across the Valley, this is one of the most magical moments of the season—two newborn bald eagle chicks thriving in the nest.

Just hours after Chick #1 hatched, Chick #2 made a fast and successful arrival, completing its hatch in record time. While Chick #1 immediately began showing enthusiasm—bobbing its tiny head for food—Chick #2 needed time to rest, nestled safely in the soft nest bowl lined with fluff.

As Jackie began feeding, we saw those classic “bobblehead” moments, with Chick #1 eagerly reaching for each bite while its sibling recovered from the demanding hatch.

Not long after, Shadow arrived to see both eaglets together for the first time—a proud moment for Big Bear’s favorite eagle dad. He quickly stepped in to help, taking a turn feeding Chick #1 while Chick #2 slowly began to stir and attempt to join in.

Meanwhile, Jackie carefully rearranged eggshell fragments and added fresh fluff, ensuring the nest remained soft, warm, and protective for her tiny chicks—just hours old at the time.

By Monday morning, Chick #2 joined in for its first feedings, and the nest became a lively scene of two hungry eaglets competing for attention. We may have even witnessed an early “bonking” moment—a completely normal behavior that helps establish pecking order, coordination, and strength in young bald eagles.

From feeding time to those first clumsy movements, every moment is part of the incredible early development of eaglets.

From Easter hatchlings to first feedings and sibling interactions, this is what makes the Big Bear eagle cam so special. Jackie and Shadow’s two tiny fluff balls are already growing fast—and this is only the beginning.
